Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Probiozym in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

It’s known that CFS-patients often benefit from probiotics. We’ve received lots of feedback from this group about our probiotic Probiozym. They report that their energi level rises, although they are still ill. One word that is often repeated is that they feel ”fitter”. Why they feel better, we simply don’t know. It came as a surprise when we started receiving positive feedback from this group. Perhaps there is a connection between CFS and disturbed gut flora, or perhaps CFS-patients are more sensitive to opioid peptides (see protein intolerance).

Peptide analysis and diet

We haven’t observed any connections between CFS and protein intolerance, but it has not been properly investigated. When casein (milk protein) and gluten (grain protein) are incompletely digested, opioid peptides are formed. These peptides have a mophine-like effect on the brain, and under certain conditions they can leak from the gut into the blood stream. If the patient has additional problems like depression, restlessness or lacking concentration, the peptide analysis could be relevant. Still it seems that Probiozym has a better effect on this group than gluten-free and/or casein-free diet.
